Southern Spain & Morocco Tour
We can easily adapt this tour to suit your preferences.
Many a tour or vacation will take you from one country to another but rarely will you experience two continents. This stunning experience will do just that; over 12 days we will sunny Spain before crossing the point where two seas meet to the continent of Africa, and Morocco.
The first part of the tour will concentrate on Spain as we visit Cordoba, Seville, and Granada. This area of Spain has vast Jewish Heritage and we will immerse ourselves in this remarkable history which dates back thousands of years.
As we travel through Spain you will see many traditional “white villages” perched on hilltops overlooking the Mediterranean sea. As we venture down the coast towards the very foot of Spain you will see the old and new combining in what one of Europe’s most popular holiday vacations.
The Plaza de America, Seville
Before we head over to Morocco we will visit the tiny country of Gibraltar. This English speaking British outpost is fascinating, and it is also home to a vibrant Jewish community. Gibraltar is also home to the only wild apes on the continent of Europe!
Although it sounds quite dramatic travelling from one continent to another in truth the journey takes less than an hour as we cross the Gibraltar straits on a fast ferry and enter Morocco at the ancient port of Tangiers where we start our five day adventure.
A typical traditional Moroccan tagine
Morocco also has quite a significant Jewish history and we will visit communities in Fez, Marrakesh, Casablanca and Rabat, listen to stories about the original Jewish inhabitants of the area and about those who arrived after Spain’s 1492 Edict of Expulsion.
We will also enjoy getting to know Morocco which is one of the most diverse countries in Africa, with high mountains, sweeping desert, rugged coastline, and the winding alleyways of ancient medina cities and souqs. Colourful, vibrant, and aromatic you will never forget Morocco.
The Bull overlooking Alfarjin
Given that Spain and Morocco are separated by just a few miles of ocean it is obvious that they share many historic influences and that there are themes running through the Jewish heritage, however this tour will also give you a feel for the local culture and ideosyncracies.
As with all Yaya tours luxury is a given. We will be staying in the very best hotels, themselves awash with history, and enjoying the very best of local cuisine with visits to well researched restaurants and eateries, Take a look at our itinerary for more details and a day by day schedule.
